YouTube Expands AI Tools for Creators Inside Studio App

SAN BRUNO, September 24 — YouTube used its annual Made On YouTube event to roll out a slate of AI-powered tools inside YouTube Studio, the app creators use to run their channels, with the company aiming to help them analyze their videos and grow their audiences. The announcement was reported by TechCrunch staff writer Ivan Mehta on September 23, 2026, at 7:30 AM PDT. Among the updates is the expansion of Ask Studio, YouTube’s AI-powered Q&A feature, to iOS and Android.

Previously limited in availability, Ask Studio now reaches creators on both major mobile platforms within the Studio app. Think of it like having a knowledgeable colleague on call in your pocket — a creator can ask questions and get answers without leaving the app where they already manage their channel.

YouTube also introduced a draft-feedback feature that uses AI to examine a creator’s unpublished video and provide suggestions about pacing, structure, and storytelling. The company is debuting a new research feed in the Studio app that shows creators what kind of content is working on the platform, so they can apply their own take on it. On thumbnails and titles — areas where creators are typically picky — the Studio app will now let them generate thumbnails and titles based on a video’s content and matched to their style.

A new dynamic thumbnail feature lets creators generate three options and show each one to a different segment of their audience. YouTube said creators have used its A/B testing feature to run more than 40 million tests on titles and thumbnails.

Soon, the company said, users will be able to test up to three video cuts to see which opening hook works best. Later this year, YouTube Studio will also automatically monitor thumbnail performance and change one proactively if it doesn’t perform well. Here’s what it means in plain terms: the parts of publishing that used to be guesswork — which image, which headline, which opening seconds — are increasingly handled by software that watches the results and adjusts.

Beyond the Studio app revamp, YouTube introduced other tools for creators, including conversational editing in Shorts and the YouTube Create app. The announcements were made at the Made On YouTube event, the company’s annual showcase for creator-facing products. What to watch next is whether the automatic thumbnail swaps and the three-cut testing arrive on the timeline YouTube has sketched out, and how creators respond once the tools are in their hands.
