LG Unveils Context-Aware AI Home with ThinQ Claw at IFA 2026

BERLIN, Sept. 2 — The shift at IFA 2026 is away from commanding individual gadgets and toward homes that anticipate what you need before you ask. LG Electronics is using the Berlin trade show to unveil the next stage of its AI Home ecosystem, built on contextual intelligence that coordinates appliances, connected services, and daily routines rather than waiting for step-by-step instructions. The company’s updated approach analyzes schedules, habits, home environment, and appliance usage to recommend relevant actions automatically.

Instead of managing each device separately, users get a system that ties everything together around their real-world context. LG has set up immersive AI Home spaces at the show covering living, kitchen, and rest areas to demonstrate how the technologies cooperate across everyday situations, with the stated goal of cutting the time people spend managing appliances.

A centerpiece of the presentation is ThinQ Claw, a new text-chat-based AI agent built on the OpenClaw concept and optimized for LG AI Home. The agent is designed to understand user intent and context before connecting devices and services, treating each message as part of a broader situation rather than an isolated request.

LG’s demonstration scenarios show it managing cooking appliances when a user is preparing to host guests, monitoring indoor air quality and temperature before someone arrives home, and suggesting personalized experiences meant to entertain, empower, or help the user relax. ThinQ Claw also plugs into daily services such as calendars and other connected platforms, letting users communicate plans or current conditions through natural chat instead of building complicated automation rules.

The system remembers individual likes and dislikes, sharpening its recommendations over time. LG is demonstrating ThinQ Claw in its AI Home Zone throughout the show. The AI Home Zone also spotlights LG’s open ecosystem powered by Homey, the smart home platform developed by Athom, which LG acquired in 2024.

Homey supports interoperability across products from different manufacturers and service providers, letting users control various connected devices in one place. LG’s Home Energy Management System demonstration links smart meters, solar panels, home batteries, EV chargers, and LG appliances, coordinating energy generation, storage, and consumption in real time. The company says this can potentially reduce household electricity bills by optimizing energy use and exploiting dynamic energy pricing where available, though results depend on usage, tariffs, and local conditions.

LG is also giving ThinQ Pro its European debut at IFA 2026. Designed for multi-family residential and commercial environments, ThinQ Pro extends the AI Home vision into shared and professional spaces with efficient management of devices and facilities.

Security runs through the ecosystem via LG Shield, a framework intended to protect connected appliances, services, and customer data. Watch this space: the trend underneath IFA 2026 is context-aware living, and LG is betting that the next competitive battleground in home tech is not the device itself but the intelligence stitching it all together.
