AI sales startup Nooks has locked in a $500 million growth capital commitment from General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund, a financing structure that provides expansion money without diluting existing shareholders. The San Francisco-based company also launched Node, an AI personal assistant built to automate sales work across the entire revenue lifecycle.
What This Funding Structure Means
Here’s what it means in plain terms: General Catalyst’s Customer Value Fund does not take an ownership stake like a traditional venture capital firm. Instead, the fund receives a share of the returns generated by its capital. The fund targets companies that already have proven unit economics and predictable revenue — boxes Nooks checks with threefold year-over-year growth and 135% net revenue retention, a metric showing revenue from existing customers grew even after accounting for losses and contractions.
From Outbound Tool to Revenue Agent Platform
Founded in 2020, Nooks started with AI-assisted outbound sales before adding sequencing and automated customer engagement. Its Revenue Agent Platform now combines multiple AI agents — for deals, outbound, expansion, and coaching — with built-in calling, email, and workflow infrastructure. Think of it like an operating system where AI agents handle the grunt work of prospecting, outreach, and follow-through so human reps can spend more time actually talking to buyers.
The platform runs on more than one billion sales interactions. That data trains agents to maintain continuously updated account histories — calls, emails, objections, champion changes, buying signals — across months-long sales cycles. Instead of treating every interaction as a fresh prompt, the system reconciles conflicting information and preserves context. Agents also rehearse against simulated prospects, backtest strategies against historical deals, and learn each rep’s individual style.
Node: The Personal Assistant Layer
Node sits on top of this platform as a personal assistant for every sales rep. CEO Dan Lee describes it as purpose-built for sales, designed to understand how customers win deals and hit quotas. It learns a company’s sales process and works deals in the background around the clock, surfacing risks and opportunities a human might miss. Nooks says 96% of agent-generated emails go out without manual edits, and customers typically generate three times more pipeline than with their previous tools.
Market Traction and Competitive Landscape
The company now serves more than 2,000 businesses, including Glean, Notion, Deel, Replit, and Factory. More than half use multiple Nooks products. That adoption matters because companies spend hundreds of billions annually on sales forces, yet Salesforce data shows the average rep spends just 40% of their time actually selling. Nooks’ sequencing product has already taken share from incumbents like Outreach and Salesloft, giving the company the execution layer where revenue work happens.
General Catalyst partner Pranav Singhvi framed it this way: “AI changed how software gets built. Nooks is changing how it gets sold.”
Where the Money Goes
The $500 million commitment will fund product development, international expansion, and enterprise customer acquisition. Nooks expects to nearly triple its annual recurring revenue by the end of 2026. Inbound agents are next on the product roadmap, rounding out a platform that now spans the full revenue lifecycle from first touch to renewal.
